November is National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel, which is about 175 pages. That is 1666.67 words a day, or a little over 69 words a minute.
I think dictating a novel would count, too – if so, you know where to go for the transcription. (There just had to be a tie-in). If I try this, I am definitely dictating and having it transcribed.…

There are many mic brands and models out there, too numerous to review here (and there are plenty of reviews already). Google announced on Nov 19 that they would start automatically captioning many YouTube videos using their Google Voice technology. This is great news for improving accessibility of videos. Although we believe that automated transcription has a ways to go before it is as good as human-powered transcription, we think that the more transcription there is, the better.
In addition to automated captioning (which is for a subset of videos), you can upload a transcript for a video, and Google will figure out how to make the captions.…
